It is now apparent remote work is there to stay for many. Granted, it is hard to predict what the remote landscape will be in five years, but the next two years will continue to see many work this way.

Here are some of the best tools you can use to elevate your remote work and distributed teams.

Project Management

GanttPro: for Gantt based projects, GanttPRO is an online project management tool based on Gantt charts. GanttPRO used by 500K+ Project/product managers, team leaders, CEOs, and other managers from different spheres. The short learning curve and nice UX/UI design allow managers and team members to start working right away. Task, resource, cost, deadline management, team collaboration, workload, templates, export, and more.

Kinalta: for Scrum, Scrumban, Kanban and other WIP based operations. Here’s how it works. You have three views: the team big picture Kanban, individual project Kanban, and user Kanban boards. Easily switch between them with a click, seeing each project as a whole, as well as individual tasks and who has what going on. Sam makes it possible to juggle five or ten projects at the same time. All of them with many unknowns, shifting priorities and fast paced. You do not have to use Kanban by the way. Basically, you can use the simple list mode instead and achieve the same speed and efficiency, if not better. It becomes a 3D to-do lists with collaboration built-in.

Video meetings

Zoom Meetings are easy, reliable, and secure, providing HD video, audio, and content sharing across everything from your mobile and desktop devices to telephones and conference room systems. Special features include cloud and local recording with transcripts and multi-user annotation capabilities via screen share. Easy access with one click, chat across platforms and share files all with encrypted, compliant settings for extra security.

alternative: Google Meet Google Meet is a free communication solution that allows users to stay in touch with clients and teams globally. The application works in sync with the other Google applications and allows you to present, collaborate and live stream meetings to 100,000 viewers at one time. It also comes as a Chrome extension and can be used across all devices.

Online Office Apps

Google G Suite. Web-based app designed to store, create, and edit spreadsheets and documents online. Templates, charting and commenting are available. Designed for businesses of sizes, it is a cloud-based document management system that helps teams collaborate, share, edit, chat, comment across multiple files in real-time.

Cloud Storage

Box’s suite of file sharing is a single, secure, easy-to-use platform built for the entire content lifecycle, from file creation and sharing, to co-editing, signature, classification, and retention. There’s a reason 67% of the Fortune 500 trust Box. The Content Cloud is where real work gets done. Keep your files safe with cloud-native security and compliance capabilities like granular access controls, watermarking, and classification.

alternative: Kinalta formerly Sam9000 from daxital, for small business teams, get high privacy, security and very high durability (long term storage of files) with a simpler solution. see other reviews and other choices.

Microsoft OneNote is a free and full-featured note-taking app. It’s Microsoft’s answer to Evernote, though without the need for a monthly subscription. Though, of course, there are other differences.

Time Tracking

Harvest makes it easy to track time from your desktop, phone, and favorite tools. It then collates this timesheet data into intuitive, visual reports that make it easy to see what your team is working on, catch projects before they go over budget, and make more intelligent decisions about your business.

alternative: if your project management tool already includes time tracking skip this.
